Since one year from the formal occupation of the “Palazzo delle arti di Napoli” by the art collective URTO! (www.urtonapoli.tk), we finally arrive to the date of our first group exhibition.
“Beyond Paralysis” - Neapolitan Artists Collective URTO! - Step|1
PARALYSIS: We opted for this word because among the many possible and immaginable words, “Paralysis” appeared to be the best one in our attempt to interpret aesthetically some of the particular facets of our present experience in terms of socio/political system and our existential condition. The most appropriate word to spur the latent energies peculiar of the comunities we all live in.
THE PROJECT: We gave voice to the paralysis and to the research of its “beyond” through a planning which could express at its best the process of aggregation of our art collective URTO!. Our only aim is the freedom of expression of artistic talents in a public space as a valid contribute for a better society. To do so, we have adressed a direct “OPEN INVITATION” to artists through a public call on various social network. We invited artists to immagine and represent the “PARALYSIS” in all of its aspects: political, poetical, musical, theatrical, philosophical, social, without any expressive tie of techniques and languages.
The word “PARALYSIS”, that refers to the arrest of motor functions, it seems containing linguistically the antidote to the same pathologies that it designates as it derives from the greek word paràlysis which means dissolution, relaxation, dissolution. So if conveniently elaborated, every “Paralysis” contain in itself its own clearing.
The art as “paralysis”. The creative action that paralyzes, traps and freezes what it gathers into a new condition of form. In doing this it is its primary instict in duplicating things, in stopping the time, in leaving a trace of something which otherwise it would inevitably disappear into emptiness.
Art as movement. The paralyzing creative action is a language capable of giving life and substance to the profound individual and collective perception; of revealing and exorcizing every paralysis that human kind lives in his daily experience. The deadening of the capacity of reception, of perception, of relation, of the critical capacity and also of choice, of the will of foreseeing and pursuing an ethical dimension of the existence.
